Difference Between CBD Oil And Cannabis Oil

CBD Oil

CBD is an abbreviation of cannabidiol, which is one of the cannabinoids found in Cannabis sativa or cannabis. It is a natural compound like cannabichromene (CBC), tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) cannabinol, (CBN) which are also a part of cannabis. CBD can be readily ordered from a CBD shop. You can even order the product from an online CBD store.

The ratio of CBD to other cannabinoids can greatly alter its effects. CBD oil is well known for the prevention and treatment of a variety of health conditions.

CBD Oil vs Marijuana Oil

If we go according to botanical standards, marijuana and hemp both are considered as cannabis. Marijuana refers to cannabis strains with THC. Strains that don’t contain THC   are known as hemp. The quality and quantity of CBD in the oil are easier to manage if it’s made from hemp. CBD oil is usually manufactured by using the whole plant.

The making of CBD Oil

There are two common ways of making CBD oil:-

  • Alcohol extraction
  • CO2 extraction

Alcohol extraction is a process in which the hemp plant is soaked in a solvent like ethanol. The alcohol leaches out the solvent from the CBD and other cannabinoids obtained from the plant. It is followed by the heating of the alcohol solution, which results in evaporation. The residue after evaporation gives CBD oil as heat doesn’t damage the cannabinoids.

CO2 extraction

This method involves passing CO2 through the hemp plant hence the name. When the CO2 is passed through the hemp plant with temperature and pressure changes carried out in specialized equipment, the cannabinoids are separated from the plant that can be collected.

Both the  methods produce high-quality CBD oil. However, some people are of the view that the CO2 method results in purer products.

CBD Oil and its Legality

Many people are dubious about the legality of the CBD oil. Many will be surprised to know that the answer is yes. However, you must be wondering how it is possible since cannabis is a schedule 1 drug. According to a 2004 ruling, non-psychoactive hemp is not included in Schedule I. Therefore it doesn’t have to be regulated. Cannabis in oil and other forms is considered legal in more than 30 states of America. Of course, the legality of cannabis will depend on the laws of the country. If you are interested, then consider the place where it is being manufactured before you place an order.
